Outreach Opportunities

 High School Ministry - Las Vegas High School

 
For several years, hundreds of kids from Las Vegas High School have been getting out of school at 1:30 pm and heading down the block to Lewis Family Park.  The park is thirteen acres and has become a natural place for a hundred or more kids to come after school.  With all of the kids hanging in the park it is not uncommon for trouble to occur.  To ward off the trouble officers from both the Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Park Police occupy the park to keep the peace.

At the start of 2008 a couple of the members of the Las Vegas Outreach Team found out the other’s desire to reach the high school kids.  With more prayer it became clear that the plan was to go to the kids in the park and share the gospel. 

 For almost two months, a few members have been going to the park to share the gospel and the times of sharing have been blessed.  For the past eight weeks the focus has been to pass out tracts and to share the gospel with those who are willing to listen.  Many incredible conversations have come from these efforts.  Now our prayer is to begin a Bible Study in the park on March 8th.  From this we hope to see students be regenerated and then disciple them so that they can start a Bible Study in the Las Vegas High School. 

 Please pray as we start the Bible Study and begin to open up the word of God to them.  Also pray that the members who are leading the Bible Study will properly divide the word of God.

 

 

Team Outreach


Almost two years ago Marty and Sheila Gillespie hosted a Mini-Evangelism Boot Camp for the Great News Network in Laughlin, NV.  The event was held during the Laughlin River Run which is the largest west coast Harley run and the second largest in the nation after Sturgis.  That year Marty and Sheila were able to house people from Arizona, California, and Nevada for the three day event.  It was a very successful event in getting the gospel message out to thousands of people.


Now two years later, Marty and Sheila live in Las Vegas and are coordinators for the Las Vegas Outreach Team.  Recently, they were asked by old friends to come back to the Laughlin River Run and help share the gospel.  It is a blessing to see the people who were trained and encouraged by Marty and Sheila, are wanting to carry on the call to share the gospel at the Laughlin River Run.                

The plan for this Team Outreach is to be held from Friday April 25th through Sunday April 27th.  Arrangements for sleeping will need to be made with Marty and Sheila Gillespie (fillthenets@yahoo.com).  At this time there is room for eight more adults and children in Marty and Sheila’s home and the house of another Christian family.  Of those eight only two can be children.  It is recommended that children do not go with you to the street because of the things that might be exposed to.  Arrangements have been made to provide babysitting over these three days for five children.

The plans for eating are to have a team breakfast and then each member be responsible for the rest of the meals each day.  The typical schedule each day is that after breakfast the team will pray together before hitting the streets.  Once on the street, members will stay in pairs or teams.  These teams will stay in contact throughout the day so that if possible they can eat additional meals together and encourage each other over the weekend.

§      People will meet at Casa Don Juan at 6:00 pm to eat  or 7:00 pm for prayer before hitting the street.

 

  •   March 16th – LVOT Team Meeting (Koch House) 
    • 2:00 – 3:30 pm

§       This is open to everyone to help pray for the ministry, and see which things the Lord is leading the ministry to.

Endorsement

 
The members of Las Vegas Outreach Team (LVOT) have been preaching on the streets and teaching within the church, often with few endorsements from leaders in the church.  Even though the members of LVOT do not preach or teach to receive endorsement, it is a blessing when it comes.  Recently, the LVOT received an endorsement from Ray Comfort with The Way of the Master Ministry.  Ray’s recommendation is:

 
There aren’t too many individuals nowadays, especially in places like “Sin City”, who are prepared to put legs to their prayers.  I thank God for the Las Vegas Outreach Team who actually goes into the world to seek and save the lost.

 


Vegas-365 Maps

 Two months ago we reported about LVOT’s quest to share the gospel with as many people from around the U.S. and countries of the world.  In January we had shared the entire gospel with people from thirty-two states and thirty countries.  In the last two months the numbers have gone up to forty states and thirty-seven countries.  Below are the current maps and the states and countries that have been added.

Prayer Concerns

 

  • That God’s name will be praised throughout the city of Las Vegas.  That new people each month will begin to praise and worship Jesus Christ.

 

  • That the Las Vegas Outreach Team will find a local church that is likeminded and will provide leadership and accountability to the ministry.

 

  • The gospel will be proclaimed on the streets of Las Vegas each day of March 2008.

 

  • Prayer for the organization and execution at the Laughlin River Run.

 

  • Endurance and zeal for both Frank Francesco and Drew Petitti.  These brothers are on the streets of Las Vegas sharing the gospel full-time. 

 

  • That the brethren will have wisdom when sharing the gospel at

  • Praise the Lord, because ALL of last month’s financial needs were met.  The Lord graciously provided $1850 for tracts and the San Gennaro booth.
